10. External Connections
It is possible to connect many different types of external equipment to your TV.
A variety of sockets are provided to assist with this and are shown in Fig 10.
A typical possibility is shown using a DVD Recorder or VCR.
Do NOT connect more than one type of connection to each apparatus as this could cause
interference to sound or picture.
SCART
. This connection is most popular and is for general purpose connections to VCR or DVD/R.
CVBS./AV L/R
. This is used with older equipment, typically VCR’s, Camcorders and TV game
consoles.
S-VIDEO / AV/L/R
. This is used with later equipment with a S-VIDEO connection for higher quality
pictures.
HDMI.
This is provided for the latest equipment and provides High Definition pictures (providing the
material is suitable).
VGA./Line In
This connects to a PC to allow you to use the TV as a PC Monitor.
To select the inputs, press the INPUT button to display the INPUT menu, (see Fig 6).

buttons and press ENTER to confirm.
If you are using HDMI for the first time, from a DVD player or similar item, you may need to set the
“source” output on the DVD player. To do this connect a “SCART” lead and the HDMI lead from
the item to the Tv, Select SCART). Enter the setup menu of the external item (see manufacturers
guide) and select the HDMI output. Select HDMI input on the Tv and you should see a picture
from the external item. When your setup is complete, remove the SCART lead.

11. Using Headphones
A stereo headphone socket has been provided so that you may listen to the TV without disturbing
others. Plug in the headphones at the point at the rear of the TV and adjust the listening
volume to your chosen level.
Do not operate the headphones at excessive levels for long periods as this may cause hearing loss
or impairment.
Connecting the headphones will switch off the internal loudspeakers
