You can easily locate the desired program using the index search or
intra search function.
Index search
You can easily search the beginning of the program or the point on the
tape where an index signal is manually marked, using the index search
function.
Recording an index signal
• An index signal is automatically marked on the tape each time the
REC/INDEX ENTER buttons are pressed at the same time in the
stop mode.
• Mark an index signal on the tape manually pressing the REC/INDEX
ENTER buttons at the same time in the recording mode.
The "INDEX" indicator flashes while the index signal is being marked.
Notes
• No index signal is marked when the REC button is pressed in the
recording pause mode.
• If an interval between the recorded index signals is short, the unit
may not detect the index signal. Make an index signal at least 1
minute in the SP mode or 2 minutes in the EP mode apart from the
previous index signal.
• Up to 9 index signals in the backward or forward direction can be
searched.
Searching for an index signal
1 Insert a cassette with index signals.
2 In the stop, playback, fast-forward or rewind mode, press the INDEX
button repeatedly until the desired index number appears in the dis-
play window and on the TV screen.
3 To search for the previous program, press the button.
To search for the program ahead, press the button.
4 When the desired index signal is located, or is
displayed and playback begins.
Intro search
The intra search function detects the index signal marked on the tape
in sequence to play back the beginning of the program at a fast speed
for approx. 5 seconds.
1 In the stop, playback, fast-forward or rewind mode, press the INTRO
button.
2 Press the button when the desired program appears.
• The index signal marked on the beginning of the tape cannot be
detected.
• When the button is pressed after the intro search, the intro
search in the reverse direction is performed.
• If an interval between the recorded index signals is short, the unit
may not detect the index signal. Make an index signal at least 10
minutes in the SP mode or 20 minutes in the EP mode apart from the
previous index signal.
