Nanoindentation instruments from Agilent Technologies conform
to the ISO 14577 standard, delivering confi dence in test accuracy
and repeatability. These state-of-the-art solutions ensure reliable,
high-precision measurement of nanomechanical properties for
research and industry.

with ISO 14577 and making substrate-
independent measurements on thin
fi lm materials. Agilent is constantly
developing and releasing new
methods for users.

The Explorer version of NanoSuite 6.2
allows users to write their own
NanoSuite methods using exactly
the same software tools employed
by Agilent applications engineers. In
simulation mode, users can write test
methods and process data analysis
off-line. No other commercially
available package offers this degree
of fl exibility and control.

For scanning of areas up to
500 µm x 500 µm, NanoSuite 6.2 offers
a survey scanning option. Flatness of
travel is 0.1% per 100 µm. This option
is ideal for scratch and wear testing
on large samples. It is also very
useful for working with large samples
that have irregular shapes, large
samples composed of heterogeneous
materials, and various metals,
ceramics, and hard-coated materials.

Data Acquisition,
Recording, and Control

The fundamental data acquisition
rate for all Agilent Nano Indenters
is 12.5 kHz. Acquired data is
accumulated and averaged in an
electronic buffer and recorded at
a rate of up to 500 Hz. Even at the
system’s highest recording rate,
NanoSuite 6.2 provides the power of
real-time experimental control based
on any recorded or calculated data
channel. This allows functionality
such as plotting real-time properties,
or more complex capabilities, such as
responding intelligently when a test
sample fails.

Professional and
Explorer Versions

The Professional version of
NanoSuite 6.2 gives users access
to test methods written by Agilent
applications engineers, including the
methods for testing in compliance

Figure 6.  T150 UTM engineering
stress-strain curves for nylon-PET
bicomponent IS fi bers, with 85% nylon
and 15% PET. The molecular weight of
PET in NP5 fi bers is higher than that
in NP3 fi bers. The dashed lines at the
initial part of the curve indicate linear
elastic deformation. Regime A is prior to
formation of any neck in the fi ber, whereas
regime B indicate strain hardening in the
necked region.
