Performing a Quick Confidence Check
This procedure verifies the basic functionality of the lightwave transmitter.
The following equipment is used:
• Agilent 83433A lightwave transmitter
• Pattern generator
• Clock source
• Optical multimeter
1 Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 2-1 .

2 Turn on the Agilent 83433A and let it warm up for 30 minutes.
3 Turn on the pattern generator and clock source and let them warm up
according to their specifications.
4 Connect the output of the clock source to the clock input of the pattern
generator.
Note
Before starting be sure to clean all connectors and optical interfaces using the proce-
dures describe in
“Cleaning Connections for Accurate Measurements” on page 3-6 .
