To be able to remove the shims it is necessary to unfasten the sail mount tangs at the nose part of the glider, remove
the battens and close the glider.
If the
sail mount plugs have been rotated on both leading edge tubes, but a turn still remains, it is worth to proceed
with removing the
outer leading edge tube shims.
To correct the left turn remove the shims from the right leading edge tube. Before doing so bring the left
sail mount
plug back to its normal position.
If a turn still remains it is possible to add the removed shim to the opposite leading
edge tube.
NOTE
Always start with one shim and, if it is not enough, remove the second one.
NOTE
Do not forget to correct the length of the tip folded battens after removing or adding the shims.
There is a possibility to improve handling, if necessary, by removing the shims on both leading edge tubes
symmetrically.
If your glider has a turn both with VG on and VG off, first start to correct it as it was described in case of a turn with
VG of. If the turn with VG on still remains, then correct it with sprogs as it was described in case of a turn with VG on.
BATTENS
Check the battens for symmetrical shape. Check that the battens have no deviation from the batten template.
BATTEN TENSION
Figure 42
NOTE
Batten tension have to be checked and adjusted with
VG full on.
NOTE
The excess tensioned battens will worsen the
handling.
All battens on the Combat-C, except for the plug-on
battens are tensioned by lever batten tips. The desired
batten tension can be easily adjusted by the threaded
lever batten tip adjuster (Fig. 42).
To increase batten tension rotate the threaded lever
batten tip adjuster counter clockwise. To decrease batten
tension rotate the threaded lever batten tip adjuster
clockwise.
To increase the plug-on batten tension rotate the batten with the threaded adjuster counter clockwise.
To decrease the plug-on batten tension rotate the batten clockwise.
The innermost battens (battens # 1,2,3,4) and the outermost cambered battens (battens # 11) should have more
tension then the others, they have to be tensioned until the lever batten tip is about 30 degrees of travel before
becoming straight. The others cambered battens have to be tensioned less, they have to be tensioned until the lever
batten tip is about 15 degrees of travel before becoming straight.
The tip batten has to be tensioned so that there is a slack in the tip area of the sail with VG on.
TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
With good care and correct maintenance your hang glider will retain its good conditions for many years.
We recommend that you do not expose your glider to any more direct sunlight than necessary. Do not leave under
the sun for long periods of time when you are not flying.
Do not leave your glider for a long period of time against strong wind. It will decrease the life of the sail.
The glider may be transported in its bag in any vehicle that offers protection from mechanical damage, soiling and
long exposure to rain. During transportation, or when stored on supports, the wing must be supported not less then in
three points: at its center and at two more points.
Supports should be softly padded, and any support systems used for transport, such as roof racks, must
