6.8.1 Pumping System Set-Up Instructions
A sample pumping set-up diagram is shown in Figure 6-9 for an Innovation Water Heater. As this
diagram shows, heat exchanger cleaning is accomplished by pumping the HydroSkrub solution
from a large circulating bucket to the heat exchanger drain valve, through the heat exchanger and
then out through the output connection of the heater. Set up the pumping system as follows:
Set-Up Instructions
1.
Turn off the water heater and close the inlet and outlet isolation valves.
2.
Open the drain valve at the rear of the heater and drain at least half of the heat exchanger
water-side volume. When full Innovation models hold approximately the gallons of water
listed below:
•
INN600:
24.5 gallons
(drain at least 12.25 gallons)
•
INN800
24.5 gallons
(drain at least 12,25 gallons)
•
INN1060: 23 gallons
(drain at least 11.5 gallons)
•
INN1350
20.6 gallons
(drain at least 10.3 gallons)
For the Innovation model being cleaned, drain at least the amount of eater shown in
parentheses.
3.
Prepare a 50% solution of HydroSkrub and clean water. The amount of the solution should
be approximately equal to the full volume of water that the heat exchanger holds.
4.
Mix 11 gallons of HydroSkrub with 11 gallons of water to provide a 50% solution.
5.
Close the unit drain valve and connect a suitable size bucket and pump to the unit drain as
shown in Figure 6-9.
6.
Install a “T”, ball valve and hose connection in the outlet piping of the heater (Figure 6-9).
Route the hose back to the top of the circulation bucket.
