Emergency EMER/NORM Switch
EMER
Annunciator
EMER
Switch
The EMER/NORM switch is a red two-position locking switch that
manually switches the microphones and headphones over to a second
internal system. The switch must be pulled outwards before it can be
moved up or down.
When the EMER position is selected, the 'deadfront' EMER annunciator will illuminate green to warn the
operator that the controller is operating in Emergency mode.
3.3.7
VOX Control
The VOX control is a gray edge-lit plastic knob that is used to select the intercom mic
mode of operation. When rotated fully ccw, the detent stop position will be reached. If the
control is clicked past the stop into the detent position, the VOX circuit will operate at a
predetermined factory setting.
Intercom audio may be implemented in three modes: HOT, VOX, or PTT. It is common to use the HOT
mode during ground operations, start-up, etc., and to use VOX or PTT operation if conditions are so noisy
that ‘pilot fatigue’ will result
.
3.3.7.1
HOT (Hot Mic Operation)
When the VOX potentiometer is set fully ccw to the HOT position, the intercom audio will be on
constantly, or live. Take care not to rotate the control into the detent position.
3.3.7.2
PTT (Keyed ICS Operation)
Keyed ICS is activated when switched by an ICS PTT switch.
3.3.7.3
VOX (Voice Activated)
Set the VOX control fully ccw and then slowly rotate clockwise (cw) until the intercom just becomes quiet.
This setting will vary with ambient noise conditions, and the quality and number of microphones
connected in the system.
3.3.8
External Controls
The SWAP key input is routed to one of four SWAP key outputs when one of the two rotary selector
switches is in either the VHF1, VHF2, MF1, or MF2 positions. These lines are fully floating so the SWAP
key signal can be defined by the customer. When the rotary selector switches are not in any of these four
positions, all SWAP key outputs are open circuit.
