3.3 Controls and Indicators
Each group of controls for the N300-001 and N300-002 shown below in Figure 1 and Figure 2 will be
described separately. The operation of these controls is identical for both models unless noted otherwise.

3.3.1 Receiver Controls (RX SEL)
The receiver controls shown below in Figure 3 and Figure 4 are gray edge-lit plastic knobs with
illuminat
ed ‘lubber’ lines for high contrast and visibility in day and night conditions. They are used to
set
the volume levels for their respective receivers. When rotated fully counterclockwise (ccw) past the
detent, the input is turned off, and at fully clockwise (cw) it will be at maximum.

The radio inputs are designed to provide a minimum output even when the respective volume control is
set to minimum. If the control is set fully counter-
clockwise into the ‘detent’ position, the input is turned off,
except for the ICS volume control, which has no detent-off position, but has a fixed minimum level set at
the factory.
The transceiver audio inputs are also controlled by an Auto RX circuit. This ensures the selected radio will
be audible regardless of the position of the associated receive volume control. If the volume setting for
the radio selected on the transmit selector switch is set higher than the Auto RX level, the volume panel
potentiometer setting will take precedence.
3.3.1.1 N300-001 Only
The N300-001 has a second row of receiver volume controls (NAV1, NAV2, DME1, DME2, ADF, MKR
and DF) at the bottom of the faceplate. These are dual concentric controls, with the inner knobs linked to
the engraved names above the knobs, and the outer knobs linked to the names below the knobs.
