Start-up of the device/introduction
• Read the operating instructions thoroughly before the start-
up!
• Select an appropriate location for the device, e.g. a dry, fl at,
non-slip surface on which the device can be easily operated.
• Make sure that the device is adequately ventilated!
• Connect the power cable supplied (see battery compart-
ment (23) if necessary) to a properly installed 230 V/50 Hz
safety power socket and the mains connector AC (24) on the
back of the machine. Ensure that the voltage is the same as
that indicated on the model identifi cation plate.
• The stored time is lost as soon as the power supply is
interrupted.
Setting the Time
1. Keep the TIME SET button (20) pressed down.
2. Press the HOUR button (21) in order to set the hours. Keep
the button pressed down until the desired hour is reached.
3. Press the MIN button (22) in order to set the minutes. Keep
the button pressed down until the desired minutes are
reached.
4. The time is stored automatically.
Inserting the Batteries
(not supplied)
• Open the lid of the battery compartment (23) on the bottom.
• Insert 6 batteries of type UM2/R14 1,5V. Please ensure that
the polarity is correct (see the fl oor of the battery compart-
ment)!
• If the device is not used for a long period of time, remove the
batteries to avoid the spilling of battery acid.
• If the power cable is connected, the batteries are switched
off automatically.
• Different battery types or new and used batteries must not
be used together.
• Then close the battery lid.
CAUTION:
Batteries are not to be disposed of together with domestic
wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the relevant collection
bin or at your dealer’s.
WARNING:
Do not expose the batteries to high temperatures or direct
sunlight. Never throw batteries into the fi re. There is a
danger
of explosion
!
CD deck transport protection
• Please open the CD compartment (11) by pressing the
OPEN (open) button (12).
• Remove the transport protection from the CD player if
present before use.
Headphone Socket (1)
Please use headphones with a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug; these
should be inserted into the PHONES socket. The loudspeakers
are then switched off.
Volume
The desired volume can be sent using the VOLUME regulator
(5).
Switch-off
The machine is switched off when the function selector switch
(6) is turned to the POWER OFF position. The time display
appears. Unplug the device.
AUX IN socket
To connect analogue replay devices. Via this socket you can
also hear the sound of other playback devices such as MP3
players, CD players etc. through the loudspeakers.
1. Please connect the external device with a 3.5 mm stereo
jack plug to the AUX socket (9).
2. Turn the function selector switch (6) to the AUX position.
3. Through the loudspeakers you can hear the playback of the
sound from the external device; with the VOLUME control
(5) you can change the volume. The CD buttons do not have
any function.
4. For the remaining procedure please see the operating
instructions of the external sound source.
NOTE:
Turn the volume of the external device to maximum.
Listening to the Radio
1. Turn the function selector switch (6) to the RADIO position.
2. Use the band selector switch (7) to select the desired
frequency band.
VHF (Stereo) = FM ST., VHF = FM,
Medium wave = AM (Mono)
3. Tune in the desired station with the station adjustment knob
TUNING (8).
4. The FM.ST control lamp (2) only lights up when you have
selected FM stereo and the station is being received in
stereo quality. If reception is too weak and there is noise on
the station being received, this lamp will fl icker.
5. Try to improve reception by turning and bending or twisting
and altering the length of the antenna (25). Where reception
is bad we recommend switching to FM.
6. An aerial is integrated into the device for the reception of
AM stations. The machine can be aligned to the station by
turning it. In this frequency band programs are transmitted in
„mono“ only.
