Concrete Pad Location and Construction
When determining the location for cabinet installation, consider the following: Right of way,
public safety, vulnerability, and accessibility. All are subject to local practices and procedures.
Refer to “Section 2.1, Site Selection” of Emerson document 631-205-071 for more information.
This procedure assumes that predetermined reference points exist so the pad and cabinet can
be placed and oriented where planned.
Pad Layout
The cabinet mounts to a concrete pad or foundation. All conduits are under the pad and
penetrate up through designated openings in the mounting template. Local ordinances must
be followed when constructing the pad.
Cabinet Mounting Template
The cabinet requires a permanently mounted template (provided separately by Emerson). The
template must be installed in the concrete foundation pad. The template orients the mounting
bolts and provides access to conduits in the pad. The Pad Mount Template Kit (ADTRAN P/N
3353CAB004) includes a steel mounting template and the required fasteners.
WARNING
Pad installation assumes that local wiring and cables are present
at the previously installed conduit. Take extreme care that existing
wiring is not damaged during cabinet placement.
For detailed pad construction and mounting procedures, refer to “Section 2.7, Pad-mounting”
in Emerson document 631-205-071. After the cabinet has been securely mounted the cabinet
is ready for electrical connections to be made.
Lifting the Cabinet
Unpack the cabinet according to the instructions in “Section 2.6, Lifting the Cabinet” of
Emerson document 631-205-071. Follow all local safety practices while lifting the cabinet.
Wear all locally approved safety gear required for this activity.
