DTE DATA CONNECTION

T he  DT E should be connected to either the EIA-232 DT E
cable or the CCIT T  V.35 DT E cable.  T he maximum cable
lengths recommended are 50 feet for the EIA-232, and
100 feet for the CCIT T  V.35 (note:  ADT RAN-adapter
cables are six feet in length).  T he pin assignments for the
cables are listed in Tables 2-A and 2-B.

T he V.35 cable is recommended for use with data rates
above 19.2 kbps.  T he EIA-232 cable works up to 56 kbps
with a low capacitance cable or with the external transmit
clock option selected.  T he DT E rate may be configured
from the front panel or via the T-Watchª  Management
Program. T he DT E can operate in asynchronous or
synchronous modes.

To prevent possible radio frequency interference emissions, a
shielded cable is required.
