8.3. Wiring
e front 709.1 LON channel port is a 3.5 mm spaced 3 pin Euro style female connector. A
compatible three pin male connector is provided with the device. Unscrew the terminal screws on
the male connector and insert the end of the LON twisted pair communications cable. Tighten
the terminal screws and plug in the connector. For FTT-10 transceivers only the A and B network
pins are used. A two pin male will fit into the three pin female connector. For RS-485 transceivers
an additional ground pin is provided. e pins are labeled in the graphic below.

e power input to the GR3 router also uses the same 3.5 mm Euro style connector. Connecting
power to the network input may damage the network port. ere are two power input ports. One
uses a two pin connector and require regulated 5 Volts DC. is input is polarity sensitive.
Connecting power with the reverse polarity may damage the router.
When equipped, the other power input port will accept unregulated 18-72 Volts DC or 24-48
Volts RMS AC. is port is not polarity sensitive. Two pins are for power plus and minus. e
third pin is chassis ground. is port has an isolated DC/DC converter so the chassis ground
connection may not be needed depending on the particular configuration. When looking at the
connector, the chassis ground is the le most pin. e pins are shown in the graphic below.
