GENERAL INFORMATION

The 5852 Wireless Glassbreak Sensor with Transmitter is used in
systems that support 5800 wireless devices.  The self-contained
sensor includes a transmitter that can send alarms, tamper signals,
and low battery messages to the control panel.  Each 5852 has a
unique identification code (serial number ID) permanently assigned
during manufacture.  The ID must be "enrolled" by the control panel
prior to use in a system.  The sensor is designed for continuous
operation using a single 9V lithium battery.

LED INDICATORS

The 5852 is equipped with two built-in LED indicators, a green
Event LED and a red Alarm LED.  When the LEDs are enabled, they
light in a variety of patterns to convey the sensor’s operational status.
The table below summarizes the LED messages.

NOTE:

If the green LED is flashing and the red LED is ON

continuously, there is a self-test failure and a low battery condition.

TYPES OF GLASS PROTECTED BY THE 5852

• Tempered Glass

• Laminated Type Glass

• Ordinary Plate Glass

• Wired Plate Glass

Refer to the nominal thickness chart later in this document.  The
5852 is not recommended for protection of glass areas that are less
than 10-7/8 inches by 10-7/8 inches.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Refer to the sections indicated in the following steps for details of the
procedures.

1.

Install the battery.  Refer to the Installing the Battery section.

Adjust the sensor's sensitivity.  Refer to the Adjusting Sensitivity
section.

3.  "Enroll" the sensor's serial number using the control panel’s

programming procedure.  Refer to the Enrolling the 5852 Serial
Number
section.

4.

Mount the sensor.  Refer to the Mounting section.

5.

Test the sensor.  Refer to the Testing the 5852 section.

NOTE:

The cover tamper switch is activated when the door is open;

transmitter will send tamper signal to the control panel.  Refer to the
Tamper Switch section of this document.

INSTALLING THE BATTERY

WARNINGS:

•

Use only UltraLife Model U9VL–J 9-volt lithium
battery.
Use of another battery may present a risk of fire
or explosion.

•

Battery may explode if mistreated.  Do not recharge,
disassemble, or dispose of battery in fire.

1.

Open cover door.

2.  Check battery polarity orientation before installing. Insert

battery into battery holder with terminals toward ledge with
embossed polarity markings.

3.

Press back end of battery down until it is securely seated in
holder.  Close cover door.

4.

Wait at least 30 seconds to allow sensor to warm up; then
test unit to ensure proper operation.

To remove the battery, pry up back end of battery with
screwdriver (or similar tool) until it can easily be removed.

NOTE:

If a low battery message is displayed at the keypad, but

you suspect the battery is not actually low, remove the battery,
wait at least 30 seconds, then re-install the battery and re-test the
5852 sensor.

ADJUSTING SENSITIVITY

The 5852 has a maximum detection range of 25 feet (7.6 m)
with a sensitivity selection from maximum to lowest in four
settings. Sensitivity is selected with the SENS1 and SENS2
switches (SW3 in Figure 3).
