Connecting Devices
You can connect standard USB 1.1 and high-speed USB 2.0 devices
to your DuoConnect for Notebooks adapter. To ensure proper
functioning, Adaptec recommends using only standard USB cables
with a maximum length of 6 feet (2 meters).
You can also connect FireWire devices to your DuoConnect for
Notebooks adapter, as discussed in
. Use
standard FireWire cables to connect your FireWire devices. One 6-foot
FireWire cable is included in your DuoConnect for Notebooks kit.
High-quality USB and FireWire cables are available for sale on the
Adaptec Web site at
www.adaptec.com
.
Note:
Windows 98SE users only
—When you connect a USB 2.0
storage device (like a CD-ROM drive or hard disk drive), a
driver Installation Wizard may appear. If it does, refer to your
device’s documentation for help installing the USB 2.0 drivers
for your device.
If you don’t install the USB 2.0 drivers for your device, your
device either will not work or will operate at USB 1.1 speeds.
