5-4  Knife Recommendations and Adjustments 

Note:

  The rotor and bed knives are subject to severe conditions, and ACS Group recommends 

that you inspect knives periodically for sharpness. Keep those knives sharp, and you’ll 
notice that the machine operates much better with a superior quality of granulate. If the 
knives get severely rounded, chipped, or otherwise damaged, the granulator will have 
heavy shock loading during operation, causing a significant reduction in knife life.

 DANGER 

Before undertaking any machine repairs 
or maintenance, always make certain that 
the machine disconnect switches are 
turned to the OFF position or that the 
control enclosure is disconnected 
from the main power source. 

 

Lock out all sources of power, 
including the main disconnect switch, and 
follow all of your plant lock-out procedures. 

 
 

Removing, Replacing, and Adjusting Granulator Knives 

Removing Rotor Knives 

1.

 

Shut 

OFF

 and 

LOCK OUT

 all power, including the main disconnect switch. 

2.

 

Refer to the procedure to Open/Close Cutting Chamber for opening the cutting chamber.  

3.

 

See the figure for the standard cutting chamber drawing on the following page. 

4.

 

Remove the screen from the cutting chamber.
