4-4 Cleaning Out the Cutting Chamber
To open the granulator and obtain access to the cutting chamber for clean-out, follow these steps:
1. Shut OFF and LOCK OUT all power including the main disconnect switch.
2. Open the cutting chamber by turning the limit switch actuation knob clockwise to draw
the actuator to the fully open position. Then loosen the ratcheting tool enough to allow
for release of the of the threaded lock-down bolt.
3. By exerting lifting pressure on the hopper, swing the hopper and upper cutting chamber
to the fully open position.
Note: The threaded actuator of the time delay safety switch on the hopper access door must be
re-engaged and in proper contact with the limit switch or the machine will not start.
4-5 Restarting Considerations
Emergency Stops
Feedstock must be cleaned out of the hopper and cutting chamber prior to restarting.
Temporary Machine Stops
To temporarily stop the machine, allow all material to run out of the cutting chamber first . Never
try to restart the machine with material remaining inside the cutting chamber.
Final Machine Stops
To shut the machine down, allow all material to pass through the optional fan and into the
optional cyclonic air separator before pressing the Stop Granulator push button.
To close the cutting chamber, follow these steps:
1. Double check the cutting chamber area for tools, rags, and other debris left in the area.
2. If previously removed, place the screen back into its original position, ensuring it is fully
seated within the screen chamber.
3. Standing at the rear of the machine, lift the hopper to swing it and the upper cutting
chamber to the closed position.
