3. Performing a blood glucose test
Wash your hands with warm water and
soap, and dry them well. This helps stimu-
late blood flow and removes any residues
from the skin, e.g. from food and drinks,
which can lead to incorrect results.
Please ensure you apply the drop to the
centre of the test area
and not to the
edges.
Open the tip cover
. The meter turns on.
Read the test result and close the tip cover
. The meter automatically turns off.
You can tell that a lancet drum has been
used because it has a red line visible on
the white portion. You cannot insert a used
lancet drum again.
Push the lever at the side of the finger
pricker to the right
and then back again
to load a new lancet.
Apply the blood drop to the test area. You
only need to touch the test area gently as
the blood is immediately drawn up when
contact is made.
Press the multifunction button
all the
way down to prime the finger pricker. Press
it again to obtain a drop of blood.
W
Apply blood immediately after producing the blood drop when the meter displays
Apply blood
. note that the glucose concentration may increase by more than 20 % if
you wait for a longer period (more than 20 seconds). A significant amount of liquid
can evaporate during this period.
W
Do not press the test area onto the finger.
W
Do not rub the test area over the finger, as this spreads the blood drop.
