Fig. 6.2.1.-1 shows the pin assignment in case:
*
Cross Over connection cable: the cable connects REF 542plus directly to a
PC in a point-to-point fashion and REF 542plus is not connected in a
network. The same cable is needed to connect two hubs between them.
*
1:1 or straight through cable: the cable connects REF 542plus to a
standard Ethernet device such as hub or switch and REF 542plus belongs
to an Ethernet network.

Phoenix Contact FL CAT5 FLEX, CAT 5-S/UTP cable (J-LI02YS(ST)C
H 2 x 2 x 26 AWG), light-duty, flexible installation cable 2 x 2 x 0.14
mm², stranded, shielded, outer sheath: 5.2 mm diameter, preassembled on
both sides with RJ 45 connector, crossover or line assignment.
*
For connections with switch outside the switch gear, the heavy version is
suggested: CAT 5-S/UTP cable (J-02YS(ST)C HP 2 x 2 x 24 AWG),
heavy-duty installation cable 2 x 2 x 0.22 mm², solid conductor, shielded,
outer sheath: 7.8 mm diameter, inner sheath: 5.2 mm diameter,
preassembled on both sides with RJ-45 connector, crossover or line.

The Ethernet network in which REF 542plus devices are connected may be
based on different solutions about physical cables, depending on the
particular plant topologies, requirements, environment, customers, connection
with other subsystems, and so on.
