Planning the electrical

installation

What this chapter contains

The chapter contains the instructions that you must follow when checking the
compatibility of the motor and drive, and selecting cables, protections, cable routing
and way of operation for the drive.

Note:

The installation must always be designed and made according to applicable

local laws and regulations. ABB does not assume any liability whatsoever for any
installation which breaches the local laws and/or other regulations. Furthermore, if the
recommendations given by ABB are not followed, the drive may experience problems
that the warranty does not cover.

Implementing the AC power line connection

See the requirements in section

Electric power network specification

on page

Use a fixed connection to the AC power line.

WARNING!

As the leakage current of the device typically exceeds 3.5 mA, a

fixed installation is required according to IEC 61800-5-1.



Using an input choke

An input choke is required in case of unstable supply networks. An input choke can
also be used for decreasing the input current.
