FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
The device is intended for remote control of electrical appliances (lights). The PIS
receives radiation in the infra-red part of the spectrum, which is invisible to the hu-
man eye. If the sensor detects a change, which is triggered, for instance, by motion
of persons within its reach (see Fig. 1), the output is activated. If the motion stops,
the output is deactivated after lapse of a certain adjustable period. When a unit with
two relays is used, output 2 (fan) switches on automatically approx. 3 minutes after
switch-on of output 1 and switches off with a delay of 5 minutes after switch-off of
output 1. (If output 1 is activated for a period shorter than 3 minutes, output 2 is
activated about 5 s after activation of output 1.)
Notice:
For all passive infra-red motion sensors, it is physically conditional that the ma-
ximum motion detection sensitivity is achieved for tangential motion (perpendicular
to the connecting line between the sensor and detected object). Upon frontal ap-
proximation, the reach is substantially reduced. The reach of the passive infra-red
switch also depends other circumstances, such as motion speed, ambient tempe-
rature, presence of disruptive sources of heat (heating bodies, lights and the like).
INSTALLATION (FOR ALL TYPES)
Connection of the device to the power supply must be done only by a person with
appropriate electrical engineering qualifications.
Before you start the installation, switch off the power supply!
Connection and installation
The device is intended for installation on the power part, which is supplied separa-
tely (3299U-A00001, 3299U-A00006 or 3299U-A00007 – according to the type of
switching element), which is located in a typified embedded electrical installation
box (minimum depth 40 mm).
Connect the conductors to the power part (according to the type of switching element).
Fix the power part (Fig. 2-b) in the installation box in such a manner that the connecting
clamps point downwards. Set the setting elements on the back of the control unit – see
chap. “Setting elements”. Place the frame on the power part (Fig. 2-c) – not included in
the delivery. Cautiously insert the control unit (Fig. 2-a) connector first into the power
part.
Note:
After connection of the power supply (or after deployment of the control unit
on the energized power part), the device is activated for approx. 40 s. After this, the
device jumps to automatic mode.
The oblique sensory plane can also point upwards so that the passive infra-
red switch can detect motion, for instance, on the rising flight of stairs.
In this case, the power part must be turned in such a way that the connect-
ing terminals are on top.
Deinstallation
Remove the control unit (Fig. 2-a) by inserting a suitable tool between its side and
the frame (Fig. 2-c), or by pulling the frame.
OPERATING MODES
a) Automatic mode
If the sensor detects a movement and the ambient light intensity is simultaneously
lower than set, the output is switched on. The device goes off only after the monitored
person leaves the space, or remains immobile in the space. The device does not go off
immediately, but only after lapse of the adjustable switch-off delay. About 5 s prior to
switch-off, the luminance is reduced as a warning (only if the setting > 30 s).
When using a unit with two relays, relay 2 switches on
[switches off]
with a delay of
about 3 min
[5 min]
as compared to relay 1. Relay 2 is switched on when the inten-
sity of the ambient lighting is higher than set (and relay 1 does not switch on).
The setting elements are on the back of the control unit – see below.
b) Manual mode
A button is in the front of the control unit (Fig. 2-d), which can be used to set time-
limited reclosing regardless of the movement of persons. By pressing the button
once, the reclosing time is set at 15 minutes, every additional pressing of the but-
ton adds 15 minutes to the set time (the max. time is 1 hour). When using a unit
with two relays, relays 1 and 2 switch on almost simultaneously; relay 2 goes off
with a delay of 5 minutes as compared to relay 1.
Upon lapse of the set time, the device returns to automatic mode.
The set time can be cancelled at any time by pressing and holding the button for
more than 2 s. Upon release of the button, the device jumps to automatic mode.
SETTING ELEMENTS
Three setting elements are on the back of the control unit (see Fig. 3):
a) SENS (sensitivity)
This element is used to set the optimal reach, for instance, in case of undesirable
reclosing due to interfering influences (light or heat sources, movement of animals
and the like). Sensitivity is highest at the right terminal position, at the left terminal
position it is reduced about 2.5x.
b) / (threshold level of the ambient lighting)
The automatic mode is active if the illumination level at the installation site is lower
than the set value. At a higher ambient light level, the device is deactivated (the
output does not reclose even upon detection of motion), in the case of use of a
power part with two relays, this applies only to output 1, output 2 is always functio-
nal. When set to the left terminal position ( ), the device recloses practically under
any light, at right terminal position ( ), it recloses only in darkness.
c) TIME (delayed switch-off)
This element is used to set the period over which the light shall remain on from the
moment of termination of motion detection. The period can be set for a period of 5
seconds to 10 minutes. The position at the centre of the reach corresponds to
about 75 s. This delay does not affect the period for delay of relay 2 switch-on and
switch-off for a device with two relays.
