There are several kind of interfaces used for connection of satellite receiver and HDTV
display/projector:
YpBpR
– analog connection of HD signal via so-called component cable. It
is used in all HD devices because it provides compatibility with older HD ready TV-sets. It transfer just
video signal – audio signal is transferred separately.
DVI –
Digital Visual Interface – digital connection of HD signal mostly used
in computer devices. This interface is used by very few satellite receivers (especially older types of
devices - DM800/8000HD) and it is replaced by HDMI interface.
HDMI –
High Definition Multimedia Interface – is a digital connection of HD
signal that is used in all present HD devices. It enables digital video signal transmission up to 1080p
resolution together with audio transmission in LPCM, Dolby Digital, DTS, DVD-Audio, Super Audio
CD, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and MPCM formats. From 1.2 version it even supports
transmission of control and check data according to CEC (Consumer Electronic Control) protocol.
There is comparison of particular HDMI version in table below.
