MAINTENANCE
1.
Unspool all of the old tether.
2.
Locate the loose end of the spool of new Kevlar tether.
3.
Thread the loose end up through the bottom of the RDS2 and into the spool.
4.
Wedge the loose end in one of the spool slots.
5.
Press the right button on the RDS2 (REEL UP).
6.
Maintain slight tension on the tether as it reels so there is an even and packed wind.
7.
Release the button once the tether wind is flush with the base of the circular slots on the spool.
9.
Cut the tether from the new Kevlar spool.
6.4 Reinstalling Auto Release Hook
6.3 Replacing Tether
1.
Thread the tether through the top and out the bottom end of the stalk. Pull out at least 10cm of tether in
preparation for the overhand or non slip loop knot.
The hook is the RDS2’s payload release device and usually only needs to be replaced if the hook is lost,
or if the tether is replaced/re-tied. It is very important to tie a proper single loop or non-slip knot.
2.
Tie the knot. Make sure to create a large enough loop so that it can hook around the tab on the carbon fiber
plate of the auto release hook.
