Filling techniques
The Flexilo FLAT BOTTOM for wood pellets can be filled in two ways:
1. Directly at the silo: The filling couplings are attached to the filling pipe, which is mounted
directly to the top bar of the silo frame.
2. Indirectly through the outside wall: The filling couplings are installed in the outside wall or
in a partition and connected to extensions.
While filling through the external wall condensed water can come into the
filling pipes. Heat bridges should be avoided.
Bends and direction changing parts should be avoided.

Filling
Normally a filling pressure of 0.3 bar is necessary. Please pay attention that
the maximum length of the filling hose incl. Filling-set extension is 30 m.
Always observe the following instructions when filling:
•
The minimum fill pressure depends on the type of vehicle, the blower capacity and the
hose length. The filling pressure should be between 0.3 bars (for a hose length of about
10 m) and 0.6 bars (for a hose length of about 30 m).
•
The required filling pressure and air flow rate can vary, depending on the installation
conditions. They must be adjusted so that the Flexilo FLAT BOTTOM will be filled starting
from the back of the silo.
•
When filling, first inflate the Flexilo FLAT BOTTOM for wood pellets by introducing air and
then start the flow of pellets. This prevents the fabric cover being damaged and the baffle
becoming twisted.
•
The maximum filling pressure must not exceed 0.8 bars (with a very long filling-set)
•
Briefly interrupt the flow of pellets prior to ending the filling process and continue to blow
air at a slightly higher pressure; then resume filling. This agitates the pile of pellets and
permits complete filling of the silo bag.
•
If the instructions given above are followed, the cover of the silo bag will inflate
completely, ensuring optimum filling.
•
Flexilo FLAT BOTTOM that are filled from the long side and silo bags with a side length
from 2.4 m may have two filling lines. In such a case, the top bar is divided into thirds by
the filling connections (see the illustration page 30). A larger amount of material can be
filled by alternating between connections.
