2. Connect electrical service

Select work station where 110V AC
grounded receptacle is available.

3. Start up

Plug applicator into electrical service.
Insert a 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Hot
Melt LM AE Adhesive Stick into the
round opening at rear of applicator.
Adhesive stick must be inserted far
enough for the feed mechanism to be
engaged. Allow the applicator to warm
up (3-5 minutes).

(During the warm

up period, you may note a slight drip-
ping from the nozzle tip. This drip-
ping is due to pressure which can
build up during warm up.)

Applicator

is now ready for use.

4. Application

Become familiar with your new 3M™
Scotch-Weld™ Hot Melt Applicator AE
II LT by actuating the trigger. Start by
applying small amounts of adhesive in
puddles and beads on cardboard. Once

tor, begin your application by applying
the necessary amount of adhesive to
sufficiently bond the substrates togeth-
er. The bond will form in seconds and
be ready for handling in minutes.

5. Shut down

To shut down the applicator, unplug
and set aside. Always use the bench
stand when applicator is not in use.

Note:

IF 3M SCOTCH-WELD HOT

NOT BEEN USED FOR ONE
HOUR OR MORE PRIOR TO
SHUT DOWN, TURN OFF ELEC-
TRICITY AND DISPENSE ADHE-

Preventive Maintenance

• Always use bench stand when 3M

Scotch-Weld Hot Melt Applicator
AE II LT applicator is not in use.

DO NOT LAY APPLICATOR
ON ITS SIDE.

This impedes the

cooling process and may cause
plugging problems.

• Inspect and clean tip on a daily basis

to ensure trouble-free operation.
USE OF 3M

SCOTCH-BRITE

PAD MAY HELP TO CLEAN TIP.

• Open adhesive carton only when

necessary. Keep sticks clean and
free from airborne contaminants.

Note:

It may be necessary to physically

remove adhesive deposits on the feed
mechanism if adhesive build-up occurs.
Do this only when the applicator is
unplugged and at room temperature.
