Potential Problems

Internet Firewall. Netscape Navigator 4 or Internet 
Explorer 4 or higher versions are supported.

■

During the initial configuration, make sure that you 
change the IP address for the management station to 
one in the same subnet as the Internet Firewall, such as 

192.168.1.200

. 

■

Make sure the Web browser has Java, JavaScript, or 
ActiveX enabled.

■

Make sure the users are attempting to log into the 
correct IP address. The correct address is the 
management IP Address of the Internet Firewall, and 
not the Public Address, if NAT is enabled.

■

Make sure that users are attempting to log in with a 
valid user name and password. 

■

Remember that passwords are case-sensitive; make sure 
the Caps Lock key is off.

■

Click 

Reload

 or 

Refresh

 in the Web browser and try 

again. For security reasons, the Internet Firewall sends a 
slightly different Authentication page each time you log 
in to the management interface. If the password you 
use does not allow access to the Internet Firewall, it 
might be because the browser is displaying a cached 
copy of the page instead of the current page.

If you cannot remember the correct password, you can 
reset the Internet Firewall. See 

Appendix G

, 

“Resetting 

the Internet Firewall”

 for more information.

LAN Users Cannot Access the Internet

If your users cannot access the Internet, try the following:

■

If NAT is enabled, make sure the default router address 
on the LAN Client is set to the Management IP Address 
of the Internet Firewall.

■

If there are any host devices other than the Internet 
router connected to the WAN port, they are not 
accessible to users on the LAN. 

■

To see if the problem is outside the Internet Firewall, 
disconnect the Internet Firewall and try to access the 
Internet. 

■

Try restarting the router and LAN machines.
