Model 4160 Internet Gateway

The Model 4160 Internet Gateway provides shared Internet access, printer sharing, and local
area networking management for multiple PCs in a home or small business. Advanced security
features protect PCs connected to the network from hacker attacks. Installation, operation and
management are easy and accomplished using a simple graphic user interface (GUI).

General Features include:

• All local area network (LAN) users can share an Internet connection through an ADSL

modem, cable modem, ISDN terminal adapter, or analog modem using NAT (Network
Address Translation); LAN users share one valid external IP address, while retaining their
local IP address

• LAN connections are supported through two 10/100BaseT Ethernet ports. Additional PCs

can be connected to the Model 4160 by simply plugging in a network hub to one of the
Ethernet ports. WAN support is provided by a 10BaseT Ethernet port and an RS-232 serial
port

• Provides firewall protection to the LAN against external attacks. Firewall configuration is

password protected.  Firewalls include: NAT, Port Redirect, Packet Filtering, and Stateful
Packet Inspection

• Can be both a DHCP server or a DHCP client

• Protocols supported include: TCP/IP, PPPoE, HTTP

• Virtual private networking support with PPTP and IP Sec pass-through

• Specified software applications can be supported through the firewall with factory

configuration, or by user configuration

• Printer sharing through a parallel interface

Management Features include:

• LAN Administrator can limit the Internet access of individual workstations or groups of

workstations

• Configuration and management can be done through a PC directly attached to the Gateway,

or remotely from authorized PCs on the LAN using any Web browser software.  The interface
is Operating System independent and easy to use.

• Upgrades to the firmware can be done through the Web, through a Windows application, or

through FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
