1 INTRODUCTION
The SVAN 953 is digital, Type 2 sound level meter along with analyser meeting IEC 61672:2002
standard. The instrument is dedicated to general acoustic measurements, environmental noise
monitoring, occupational health and safety monitoring. Acoustic dose meter function is also available as
an option with the SV 25 dedicated microphone. The SVAN 953, using computational power of its digital
signal processor, can perform real time statistical calculations.
Three acoustic profiles allow parallel measurements with independently defined filters and RMS
detector time constants (e.g. concurrent Impulse, Fast and Slow measurements are possible).
All required weighting filters (e.g.: Z, A, C) are available with this instrument.
Fast USB 1.1 interface (with 12 MHz clock) creates real time link for the application
of the SVAN 953 as a PC front-end. The measurement results can be stored in large 16 MB, non-volatile
memory or external USB Memory Stick (option) and easy downloaded to any PC using USB 1.1 and
SvanPC software. The usage of the RS 232 interface (option) or IrDA interface (option) is also possible.
The SVAN 953 can be used in hard environmental conditions over the whole work day thanks to
replaceable four AA standard or AA rechargeable (i.e. NiMH, the separate charger is required) batteries
and robust, lightweight construction.
