PCS-EXT Repair Stand Extension for PCS-1 and PCS-4

The PCS-EXT adds up to 21 inches (53 cm) of adjustable working height to

PCS-1 and PCS-4 Home Mechanic Repair Stands manufactured from 1996

to 2002. PCS-1 and PCS-4 stands of this generation were not adjustable in

height and used a removable composite top tube assembly. The PCS-EXT

will not work on pre-1996 PCS-1 or PCS-4 repair stands that used a non-

removable steel top tube.

Installation Instructions

1.  Loosen two socket head cap screws on back of composite top tube.

Remove top tube from upright tube.

2.  Swing sleeve assembly’s (#928A) quick release lever to open position

and fully loosen socket head cap screw.

3.  Press sleeve assembly onto upright tube. The fit will be tight. When fully

seated, half of sleeve will fit over upright tube and half of sleeve will

extend above upright tube. Tighten socket head cap screw to secure

sleeve to upright tube (do not overtighten).

4.  Press composite top tube assembly and shim (#926) onto end of extension

tube (#927). Tighten socket head cap screws (do not overtighten).

5.  Swing sleeve assembly’s quick release lever to the open position. Insert

extension tube into sleeve, set desired working height, and swing lever

to closed position. At least 8” (20 cm) of extension tube must be inserted

into sleeve and upright tube. If tension of quick release is not adequate

to securely hold extension tube, swing lever open, tighten nut of quick

release, and swing the lever to closed position.

Note:

To avoid personal injury and/or damage to repair stand or bike, always

remove bike from repair stand before making any height adjustments.
