A step by step guide for first time users

of the

DT80/80G/81/85/85G

 data loggers.

1

Have you got everything?

Check that you have received all of the items that come with your data
logger. You should have received the following items:

 Data

logger

(

DT80

 shown in pictures)

Plug pack power supply (suitable for your region)

USB communications cable

 Resource

CD

Power terminal block with battery link

Double ended screw driver

Terminal label clear cover (not shown)

2

Connect power

Connect the plug pack power supply to your mains power outlet and
then connect the power jack into the data logger.

3

Charge the battery

Connect the terminal block with battery link into the power terminal
socket to charge the internal battery. The battery should be charged
for at least 12 hours to ensure it is fully charged.

IMPORTANT:

Avoid storing the internal battery in a discharged state

as this will reduce its capacity.

4

Insert the resource CD

Insert the resource CD into your computer. Your computer must be
running Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista. If the
resource CD menu does not appear then browse to the CD and run
the program “dtautorun.exe” to start the menu.

5

Connect USB cable

Connect the USB communications cable to the logger and your
computer.

6

Install drivers

Connecting the USB cable may cause the computer to install the
communications drivers for

data logger onto your computer. This step

will be skipped if the drivers have already been installed previously. If
you are asked to specify the location to search for the drivers during
the installation process set the location to the resource CD.

Note: The drivers were created by FTDI Ltd. You may see references
to ‘FTDI’ during the driver installation or later when selecting the ‘COM’
port to communicate with.

IMPORTANT:

Be sure to follow the direction of the

Windows hardware installation wizard. The wizard may
require either one or two driver components to be
installed. It is important that you install any components
requested, otherwise communications with the data
logger will not be possible.
