John Lewis Roman Blind
Thank you for purchasing this product. Please read the instructions and
warnings carefully before use to ensure safe and satisfactor y operation of
this product. It is recommended that this blind should only be installed by
persons competent in DIY.
Please check the contents:
1 x Roman blind mounted onto a headrail
2 x Brackets (60, 90 and 120cm) or 3 brackets (150 and 180cm)
1 x Safety cleat
2 x Safety cleat screws
2 x Screws (60, 90 and 120cm) or 3 Screws (150 and 180cm)
**Please note:
Additional fasteners other than those sent with your blind
may be required depending on the mounting surface. Wallboard and plaster
require the use of anchors such as expansion or toggle bolts. Brick, tile or
stone need special plugs and drill bits. Remember to always pre-drill holes
in wood to avoid splitting.

1. Positioning the blind
The blind can be top or face fixed depending on your window and the
appearance you want. The headrail should not be installed less than 1.5m
from the floor.
1.1 Inside the recess
If fitting inside the recess(fig 2B), be sure to avoid any catches or window
handles when opening the blind. When fitting inside the recess, you may
face fix to the window frame but if your window frame is too narrow
you will have to top fix.
1.2 Outside the recess
If fitting the blind to the outside of window recess, measurements C (fig 2) will need to be the same.

2. Fixing the brackets
A. Place the headrail in fitting position. It’s usually best to check using a spirit level.
B. Brackets supplied should be positioned about 10cm in from each end, mark the location of the
brackets with a pencil. Space any remaining brackets evenly and at equal distances from each other.
C. Drill small holes for fitting the required screws using a 5.5mm bit.
D. Brackets can be mounted by using the hole at the back for face fixing or the one at the top for top
fixing (fig 3), using the screws supplied.

3. Installing the blind
Offer the back of the headrail, with the material facing you, to the
brackets. You need to push the headrail into position A and then
tilt it away from you to slot into position B (fig 4). Ensure the
headrail is fixed to the brackets. Unroll the blind until it is fully
extended and check that the cord lengths on the side are even.

4. Operating the blind
4.1 The blind is operated by pulling the cords down and outwards for release. To lock it in place, pull
the cords towards the back. The automatic cord lock ensures that the blind locks in any possible
position. Wrap the cord around the cleat to ensure they are inaccessible to children. Check the
condition of the blind if not used regularly – replace immediately if the blind is faulty. Operating the
blind with excessive force can result in cord or unit breakage and possible hazards detailed in the
Warning (see overleaf).
