Model: AVR340 
 
Subject: Loss of Component Video Signal 

 

In the event you receive an AVR340 with the following complaint: “there is an intermittent loss of video 
signal in the Component Video mode”, perform the following procedure: 

 
Synopsis: Add two 100K ohm resistors to the Base/Collector connection of Q604 & Q605. 
 

1)  Remove the top cover. 
2)  Remove the following PCB’s, and all their attached connectors, from the rear panel: Video PCB, Input 

PCB, DMP PCB, Digital Input PCB. 

3)  Rear panel must be loosened.  Remove the (6) plated screws on bottom chassis, remove the 

Component PCB screws; remove the (4) speaker terminal screws, remove the two fan screws, remove 
the single screw next to the “Comp2 Pr” jack. 

4)  Pull the rear panel away from the chassis and remove the Component Video PCB, and unplug all 

attached connectors. 

5)  On the solder side of the PCB, add two 1/4W or 1/5W 100K ohm resistors to the indicated area in the 

image (h/k part# 11014104J52). Note insulators and adhesive are used for reliability. 

6)  Replace the Component PCB, the rear panel with all screws, and all PCB’s in reverse order. Replace 

the top cover. 

7)  Test the unit.
