5. Engine operation
5.1. Starting engine
On machines with Yanmar engine, it can happen that at outside temperatures
around 0°C the engine oil pressure warning goes on. This goes out as soon as
the oil reaches operating temperature.
1. Switch on main battery switch (Fig. 5.1), on the left of the
engine.
2. Switch off threshing system and grain tank discharge pipe.
3. Pull emergency stop button.
4. Set engine idle speed.
5. Turn ignition starter switch until the pre-heating warning light
illuminates.
6. After the pre-heating warning light has extinguished, contin-
ue turning to the stop.
7. After the engine has started, leave to run at idle until all oil
warning lights have extinguished.
5.2. Running-in period
The diesel engine has a running-in period of approx. 50 operating hours. During this period
it must be treated gently. The running-in period has a significant influence on the subsequent
service life of the engine.
During the running-in period proceed as follows:
• Leave the cold engine to warm up at approx. 1200 revs/min after starting.
• Avoid unnecessary idling.
• Increase the load slowly.
• Avoid high loads and full load.
During the first 30 operatin houres the engine has an increased oil consumption.
Top-up oil in good time!
5.3. Shutting down engine
1. Set engine to idle.
2. Shut down threshing system and grain tank discharge pipe.
3. Turn ignition switch until the combine is off.
4. Switch off main battery switch
Prior to starting the engine it is to be ensured that the joystick is in the neutral
position and all safety guards are attached and are in the protective position.
Do not operate engine in closed spaces. Toxic hazard!

6. Driving
Prior to pulling away, make sure there is nobody in the hazard area. Ensure you
have adequate visibility.
6.1. Checking prior to start of the journey
Road traffic regulations apply while driving on public roads. For this reason check the ma-
chine is suitable for driving in traffic prior to starting the journey.
6.2. Vehicle speed
There are two gears available.
The gears can be selected using a switch (see 3.1 element 20) on the dashboard.
Gear 1 (tortoise) approx. 0-10 km/h
This gear is intended to be used for field work. It is possible to control the speed more
finely in this gear and the power transmission is higher.
Gear 2 (hare) approx. 0-20 km/h
This gear is intended to be used for driving on roads.
6.3. Shutting down the combine
1. Drive the combine onto a surface that is as flat as possible.
2. Place the multifunction lever in the neutral position.
3. Lower all attachments.
4. Switch off the engine.
5. Apply parking brake and place a wheel chock under a driven wheel.
