RECHARGING THE POWER PACK
1. Ensure that the key switch is in the “OFF” position.
2. When the motorcycle’s energy gauge is in the last bar when not under load, the Zero S/DS power pack
needs to be charged. Frequent top off charging is good for the Zero S/DS power pack’s life span, so do not
hesitate to charge frequently.
3. It is possible for Lithium Ion cells to overheat and burst. It is best to charge in a location that is away from
combustible materials and in a well ventilated area.
4. Always connect the charger to a GROUNDED outlet. When using an extension cord, avoid excessive
voltage drops by using a grounded, 3-wire, 12-AWG cord no longer than 25ft (7.5 m).
5. AVOID connecting the Zero S/DS motorcycle charger and another device to a single 15A/20A circuit or the
circuit may become overloaded.
6. Charging a fully discharged Zero S/DS power pack takes about 4 hours.
7. Your power pack is equipped with an “Emergency Energy Reserve Beep”. When your power pack makes an
audible beep the power pack has only a few miles of range left. This beep tells you your pack is dangerously
low on energy and needs to be recharged immediately.
Failure to re-charge a “beeping” power pack
within 48 hours will void your power pack’s warranty
. Your power pack will continue to beep even
when it’s charging until it has recovered its “Emergency Energy Reserve.”
8. The charger can be used on 110V or 220V current. The voltage does not change the amount of time that the
motorcycle takes to charge.
