7. Frequently asked questions
What can I do if the chair does not function anymore?
– check if the plug is in the
electrical socket
.
– if the power cord is connected to an extension cord; insert the plug directly into a socket
and check whether the armchair now works.
– check if the
safety lock
on the hand control is activated.
What if there’s a malfunction?
1. If the
Slow Motion rocking movement
fails to work when you press the button, check
that the chair is not partly in the stand-up position still. For safety reasons, this function
does not work in the stand-up position. Press on the “backward movement” button until
the legrest comes out slightly and then press on the Slow Motion rocking button again.
If this still doesn’t work, you should contact your dealer for further instructions and/or a
service visit.
2. If the
Fitform ZEN Care Chair
is not working properly or not working at all, pull the plug
out of the mains socket.
Press any of the buttons on the hand control for 5 seconds and then put the plug back
into the mains socket. There is a good chance that this will reset the chair and solve
the problem.
3. If this doesn’t work, you can
‘reset’ the system manually
(this can only be done when
the chair is unoccupied):
Step 1:
press
all three buttons
simultaneously for 10 seconds. You will hear a bleep.
Step 2:
press the
two white buttons
at the top simultaneously. The chair will tilt
backwards. Wait until the chair has reached its fully tilted position. The chair
continues to give a bleep.
Step 3:
press the
white riser-recliner button
in the top left until the chair reaches
its neutral position (chair is fully on the floor and the back fully upright). The
chair continues to give a bleep.
Step 4:
press the lowermost
grey rocking button
until you hear a single different
bleep. The so-called 0-position has now been saved. Wait until there are no
more bleeps. The chair is now in its ‘normal mode’ again and is ready for use.
How do I adjust the integral head support (topswing)?
Fitform ZEN Care Chairs are equipped with an
adjustable
head support. By bending the
backrest at a height of approximately
30 cm (12 inches) from the top
, you can set the
headrest angle to the preferred position.
How do I adjust the lumbar support?
You can find the
lumbar support
behind the zip at the rear of the backrest. There you will
find a
switch button
and
small bulb pump
. By loosening the button and moving it up or
down, you can adjust the height of the
lumbar support.
When the pump is squeezed, air is pumped into the support cushion, for better lumbar
support. Press the button on the bulb pump to
release the air
from the lumbar support.
NOTE: Adjustment is only possible when the lumbar support is empty.
How does the safety lock work?
Behind the zip on the rear of the chair is a ‘magnetic key’ attached to an elastic
cord. This enables you to set the chair to its locked position. Hold the magnetic
key above the LED light next to the grey Slow Motion rocking button and swipe
from bottom to top over the hand control in one smooth movement.
All movements of the chair will stop immediately, regardless of the setting.
To unlock the chair, swipe the magnetic key from bottom to top over the hand
control as before. All hand control buttons can now be used again.
It may happen that your chair suddenly appears not to work any more. In this case,
first check whether you haven’t activated the safety lock by mistake.
My chair seems to wobble, how is that possible?
When the chair is not completely lowered to the floor it might wobble a bit. Make sure the
chair is completely lowered by using the hand control.
The chair suddenly stopped working, what should I do?
When the chair has been lowered from the rise function it stops when it reaches the neutral
position; completely on the ground. If you take your finger off the button and then press it
again the chair will start to move again.
What should I do if my armchair makes noises (squeaks, creaks) when I adjust it?
When using an adjustable Fitform ZEN Care Chair, leather or lubricants in the mechanism can
dry out somewhat. When adjusting the chair a noise may occur which can generally be got
rid of quite easily.
If the mechanism starts to squeak or creak it’s advisable to spray all moving parts with a Teflon
spray. This can be purchased from any DIY store. If, when adjusting the chair, you can hear
noises caused by the upholstered parts rubbing against each other, the best thing to do is:
Leather:
apply some talcum powder in those places where one leather part rubs against ano-
ther when adjusting. If this is unsatisfactory, you can purchase an agent from your Fitform
dealer or local furniture shop which is suitable for the upkeep of leather, with which you can
first clean and then grease the leather.
Fabric:
prepare a mixture in a plant sprayer made up of 1 capful (approx. 30 ml) of fabric
softener and approx. 1 litre of water. Apply the mixture by spraying those places where one
part of the upholstery rubs up against another when adjusting the chair.
What should I do when there is too much play on my Fitform ZEN Care Chair?
An adjustable chair requires some margin of play to allow the built-in electro-motors and the
internal mechanism adequate leeway to move. The longer the chair is used, this margin of
play may increase. This is taken into account before the chair even leaves the factory and will
have no negative consequences for the longevity of your armchair.
