Issue a command “
ifconfig
”.
Note the IP address listed for the eth0 device. It should be something like 192.168.81.68.
On the Windows PC, get a DOS shell and enter the command “
ping 192.168.81.68
”, of course
adjusting the IP address according to the output of the “ifconfig” command.
If there are no responses to the ping command, troubleshoot. Pay special attention to Windows firewalls
and proper IP configuration
Verify that the Windows computer sees the responses to the ping command.
On the shell command prompt of the terminal, enter the command “
ping 192.168.1.111
”.
If there are no responses to the ping, troubleshoot. Pay special attention to the Windows firewall, anti-
virus programs and other Windows protectors.
Verify that the ping command receives responses.
Note: In order for the streaming encode test to succeed, it is necessary that both the Windows PC and the Z3-
DM8168 system are capable of initiating successful pings.

HDMI video output
This test verifies that the H.264 decoder and HDMI output interface are working by decoding a video file and
presenting it to the HDMI output.
Ensure that the file “dectest.h264” is present in the USB mass storage device.
Plug the USB mass storage device to the USB jack of the Z3-DM8168-APP-41.
Connect the HDMI output of the Z3-DM1868-APP-41 to the HDMI input of the monitor.
Power up the system and observe it booting.
If the system boots to the shell prompt, then enter the commands “
cd /opt/z3
” and
“
./encdecdemo.sh
” to reach the “H.264 file enc/dec demo” menu.
Use the “U” option to enter “dectest.h264” as the H.264 URL.
Check that the output is set to HDMI, use the “O” command if not.
Use the “S” command to start decoding.
Verify that the video plays on the video monitor.

HDMI input 1
This test verifies the HDMI input 1 by accepting video from that port. The interface is verified by displaying
the input video on the video monitor.
Ensure that the media player is properly setup to 1080p60 and is playing video in a loop.
