Introduction
1.4 System Overview and Variations
GP8 EduCart
The diagram below shows the required configuration for safe operation of
the EduCart. Placement of the EduCart against the wall prevents unsafe
approaches from the rear, where the safety scanner is unable to monitor a
person approaching.
Any variation to this configuration should only be done by conducting a
complete review of the Risk Assessment.
1.4.4 Safety Logic Implementation
1.4.4.1 Teach/Play Mode
In TEACH or PLAY mode, FSU-based “Robot Range Limiting” ensures
safe operation of the EduCart. The purpose for this Robot motion
restriction is to prevent someone from reaching over the EduCart. It will
also limit motion to prevent collisions with the rear safety panels and work
table top. This limitation is used in both TEACH and PLAY mode to
prevent programming of points in TEACH mode that are not accessible
later in PLAY mode, therefore the file is always active. If the user tries to
disable this safety system, a user alarm triggers preventing operation of
the EduCart.
