INSTALLING THE CYLINDER HEAD
1. Install:

gasket
New
8
dowel pins
2. Install:
8
cylinder head
3. Tighten:
8
cylinder head nuts
10 Nm (1.0 m • kg, 7.2 ft • lb)
8
cylinder head bolts
10 Nm (1.0 m • kg, 7.2 ft • lb)
NOTE:
8
Lubricate the cylinder head nuts with en-
gine oil.

Tighten the cylinder head nuts in the proper
tightening sequence as shown and torque
them in two stages.
4. Install:

camshaft sprocket

8
timing chain
2

Turn the primary pulley counterclockwise.
b.
Align the “I” mark
a
on the AC magneto
rotor with the stationary pointer
b
on the
crankcase cover.
c.
Align the “I” mark
c
on the camshaft
sprocket with the stationary pointer
d
on
the plate.
d.
Install the timing chain onto the camshaft
sprocket, and then install the camshaft
sprocket onto the camshaft.
NOTE:

When installing the camshaft sprocket, be
sure to keep the timing chain as tight as
possible on the exhaust side.

Align the slot on the camshaft with the tab
in the camshaft sprocket.
