operating the motorcycle. Air in
the hydraulic system will dimin-
ish the braking performance,

NOTE:
The brake pedal position should be ad-
justed before adjusting the brake pedal
free play.
Brake pedal position
The brake pedal should be positioned
approximately XVS65ATX 108.0 mm
(4.25 in)
XVS65ATXC 108.0 mm (4.25 in)
XVS65AX 108.0 mm (4.25 in)
XVS65AXC 108.0 mm (4.25 in)
XVS65X 82.0 mm (3.23 in)
XVS65XC 82.0 mm (3.23 in) above the
top of the footrest as shown. Periodical-
ly check the brake pedal position and, if
necessary, adjust it as follows.
1. Loosen the locknut at the brake
pedal.
2. To raise the brake pedal, turn the
adjusting bolt in direction (a). To
lower the brake pedal, turn the ad-
justing bolt in direction (b).
