ting
an
underwater
obstacle
could
cause
the
outboard
motor
to
lift
out
of
the
water,
resulting
in
loss
of
control.
Use
extra
care
when
operating
in
re-
verse.
Too
much
reverse
thrust
can
cause
the
outboard
motor
to
lift
out
of
the
water,
increasing
the
chance
of
acci-
dent
and
personal
injury.
NOTICE
Do
not
tilt
the
outboard
motor
up
so
that
the
cooling
water
inlet
on
the
lower
unit
is
above
the
surface
of
the
water
when
set-
ting
up
for
and
cruising
in
shallow
water.
Otherwise
severe
damage
from
overheat-
ing
can
result.
2.
Place
the
tilt
lock
lever
in
the
release/up
position.
Procedure
1.
Place
the
remote
control
lever
/
gear
shift
lever
in
neutral.
3.
Slightly
tilt
the
outboard
motor
up.
The
tilt
support
bar
will
lock
automatically,
sup-
porting
the
outboard
motor
in
a
partially
raised
position.
This
outboard
motor
has
2
positions
for
shallow
water
cruising.
