Overheat alert
This engine has the overheat alert device. If
the engine temperature rises too high, the
alert device will activate.
The engine speed will automatically de-
crease to about 2000 r/min.
The overheat-alert indicator will light or
blink.
The buzzer will sound.
If the alert system has activated, stop the en-
gine and check the cooling water inlets:
Check trim angle to be sure that the cooling
water inlet is submerged.
Check the cooling water inlet for clogging.
Dual engine drive users:
If the overheat-alert system of one engine ac-
tivates, the engine will slow down. To switch
off the alert activation on the engine not af-
fected by overheating, turn off the main
switch of the engine overheating. If the alert
system has activated, stop the engine and tilt
the outboard motor up to check the cooling
water inlet for clogging. If the alert system has
still activated, tilt the overheated outboard
motor up and return to the port.
