DVD-Audio/SA-CD Playback
The DVD-S1500 is compatible with both
DVD-Audio and SA-CD. These multi-
channel music formats provide a surround
sound music experience that is much more
natural and lifelike than normal stereo.
Exceptionally Good Sound Quality
The DVD-S1500 delivers sound quality that
is superior even to some more expensive
players for a number of reasons. It uses high
performance 192kHz/24-bit audio DACs
for all channels. An Audio Direct mode can
be selected to ensure that no interference
from the video circuitry will affect the sound.
This player even has independent digital and
analog power circuits.
CD Upsampling
CD Upsampling raises the CD sampling rate,
for a smoother sound. It enables CD playback
to approach the quality of DVD-Audio. Once
CD Upsampling is selected, it is automatically
engaged whenever a CD is played.
The DVD-S1500 rear panel offers optical and coaxial
digital audio output, mixed 2-channel audio output,
and composite, S-video and component video output
(progressive and interlace) terminals. Also provides

DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD are new
audio formats that offer stereo and multi-
channel (surround) sound with higher quality
and greater sonic realism than ordinary CDs.
They can also provide extra content like artist
information and lyrics. With the DVD-
S2300MK2, you don’t have to choose
between them — this player will play both.
Progressive Scanning with DCDi
Processing
Video displays use two types of scanning
systems: interlaced and progressive. In brief,
progressive scans twice as fast as interlaced,
providing a superior picture with less flicker
and other distortion. The DVD-S2300MK2
has a progressive scan processor built in, so
progressive video images can be viewed on a
digital TV or monitor. It also offers DCDi, a
processing technique that eliminates jagged
edges.
Exceptionally Good Sound Quality
The DVD-S2300MK2 uses high performance
Super Audio CD DACs for all channels and a
192kHz/24-bit audio DAC. The Super
Audio CD and DVD-Audio circuits are
completely independent and optimized for
each format. An Video Off mode can be
selected to ensure that no interference from
the video circuitry can affect the sound.
Bass Management
The DVD-S2300MK2 provides Bass
Management processing and a
subwoofer/bass management output terminal.
Bass management is important for DVD-
Audio and Super Audio CD multi-channel
playback, as it properly routes the bass
frequencies for best performance from a
multi-speaker home theater system. With
normal 2-channel (stereo) CDs, the bass
frequencies are routed to the
subwoofer, so you can enjoy
“2.1” channel sound with more
powerful bass.
