REAR LIFTING POINT
If the rear of the car needs to be lifted for a mainte-
nance procedure, make sure it is lifted at the correct
rear lifting point (see arrow).
SPARK PLUG INSPECTION
You should periodically remove and inspect the spark
plug. Dirty or worn spark plugs can cause poor per-
formance.
When removing or installing the spark plug, be
careful not to damage the insulator. A damaged
insulator could allow external sparks, which could
lead to explosion or fire. Death or serious person-
al injury can result from failing to comply with the
safety instructions in this manual.

Check for discoloration and remove carbon de-
posits with a spark plug cleaner or wire brush.
The normal electrode color will be tan.

Check the spark plug type, and check the spark
plug gap with a feeler gauge.
Standard spark plug:
BPR2ES
Spark plug gap:
0.7 - 0.8 mm (0.028 - 0.031 in.)

Clean the gasket and plug surfaces and install
the spark plug finger-tight before tightening to
the following torque:
Spark plug torque:
20 N·m, 2.0 kgf·m (14.5 lb·ft)
