1.  Using the bracket as a template, mark the center

of the bracket holes with a marker. Center punch at

these locations.

2.  Using an 1/8" drill bit, drill pilot holes through your

center punch marks. Remove all debris from the roof.

3.  Using a 5/16" drill bit, drill larger holes through the

pilot holes. Remove all debris from the roof.

4.  Install bracket, pad and hardware in the order shown

above. Use silicone to seal around bolt holes.

Warning About Silicone:

DIRECT CONTACT OF UNCURED SEALANT IRRITATES EYES AND MAY IRRITATE SKIN. OVEREXPOSURE TO VAPOR MAY IRRITATE

EYES, NOSE AND THROAT. Avoid eye and skin contact. Use with adequate ventilation. Do not handle contact lenses with sealant

on hands. IN CASE OF EYE CONTACT, flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention. IN CASE OF SKIN CONTACT,

remove from skin and flush with water. Sealant releases acetic acid (vinegar-like odor) during cure.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

These  brackets are packaged in pairs, since many applications involve using 1/2 of a Yakima

Tower without brackets at the front of the vehicle and a pair of brackets at the rear. The rear crossbar may be higher than the

front crossbar and this will work just fine. If you object to the appearance of a carrier mounted in this fashion, purchase two

pair of Bolt Top Loaders and mount all four brackets to the roof of the vehicle. Do not mount these brackets in the double-

walled portion of fiberglass tops. Use the single-walled areas near the top.

Load limits are governed by roof strength--not

rack, bracket, or PlusNut™ strength.

Some roof deflection will occur with any significant load. The degree and permanency

of deflection will depend on load size and weight.  A load of skis or 2 bicycles can be carried on a highway without damage

to the vehicle roof. Serious off highway driving may cause permanent deflection in roof. Refer to our Bracket Sheets, your

auto dealer or a qualified body shop to determine the optimum placement of brackets and recommended load limits based

on the roof strength of your particular vehicle. Remember, when mounting brackets, space the carrier crossbars the correct

distance apart to accommodate any Yakima accessories you may want to use.
