7. When you have made your selection, press and hold in the [
MHz

)] key for one
second to save the new setting and exit to normal operation.
1) Your repeater may or may not re-transmit a CTCSS tone - some systems
just use CTCSS to control access to the repeater, but don’t pass it along
when transmitting. If the S-Meter deflects, but the FT-2980R/E is not passing au
-
dio, repeat steps “1” through “3” above, but rotate the DIAL knob so that “TONE”
appears - this will allow you to hear all traffic on the channel being received.
2) You may use the Menu to re-program one of the Microphone’s programmable
keys for quick access to Menu #52 (TN FRQ), from which you can perform the
above setup procedure. See the box on page 56 for setup details of the pro-
grammable keys.
3) Press the [REV(DW)] key as described in procedure
“6”.
You can now set the transmit CTCSS frequency.
Rotate the DIAL knob until the desired CTCSS Tone
Frequency is displayed. “tt” is displayed at the right
of the CTCSS indication. When the [REV(DW)] key is
pushed again “rt” is displayed along with the receive
CTCSS frequency.
4) When the encoder and decoder tone frequencies are
different, a solid decoder icon and a blinking encoder icon will be displayed.
