5. Place the film over the sample cup and install the
sample cup’s collar. The collar has a rounded edge on
the inside; this side is the bottom. The collar should
snap into place. Avoid touching the film.
If the sample cup is prepared correctly:
•
The window film is tight over the sample cup; it is not
wrinkled.
•
The sample does not leak.

If the sample cup is not prepared correctly discard it and start
again with a new sample cup, new film, and a new pipette.
Sample Film:
Etnom®
: For the best results with the Petra
MAX, XOS recommends the use of Etnom®
sample film. This film can be reordered through
XOS (P/N 200335-02).
Mylar
: For the best results with the Petra 4294,
XOS recommends the use of Mylar sample film.
This film can be reordered through XOS (P/N
200335-01).
XOS recommends that samples are not vented to reduce the
opportunities for contamination of the Petra sample system. If
your internal processes require vented samples refer to the
sample venting best practices quick start card.
With some types of samples there will be
degassing that will cause the film to bulge. As
long as there is enough sample to fill the cup
halfway, these samples can be measured
accurately in the analyzer without venting.
Completing a Measurement
1. Open sample lid and place sample in the sample
basket.
2. Close sample lid.
