Redundant Power Supply

For increased reliability your FM4 is equipped with a redundant power supply consisting of two individual power

supply units operating at the same time. If one unit fails, the other unit will instantly take over the sole operation,

hence your flexible mediaserver FM4 will still operate but sound alarm. Reset the acoustic alarm by pressing the

red flashing alarm reset button on the back of the PSU (See section “Overview & Connections” for details).

In the rare case of a PSU failure, please contact our support team to get a replacement power supply unit as fast as

possible. As soon as you have received the replacement PSU, disconnect the defective power supply unit from the

mains, remove it from the chassis and replace it with the new one. Complete redundancy is thus restored.

The power supply unit is hot-pluggable during operation so there is no need to power down your flexible

mediaserver FM4.

IMPORTANT: In order to consistently implement redundancy, each of the power supply units should be

connected to its own power source. This not only protects you against the failure of the power supply

hardware itself, but also against the failure of the actual power source.

Expansion Options

Your FM4 MAX offers remarkable expansion capabilities. In addition to the four primary display outputs, FM4 MAX

can be equipped with up to 7 additional expansion options (6 + Synchronization Option). Available expansion

options include:

•  Video Input Options (HDMI, SDI, DisplayPort, etc.)
•  Audio Options (analog, digital, MADI, Dante)
•  Storage Options (up to 60TB NVMe)
•  Network Options (100Gbit/sec, 25Gbit/sec, 10Gbit/sec, 1Gbit/sec Ethernet)
•  Synchronization Option (Genlock/Framelock)

For a full list of suitable expansion options for your individual FM4 MAX, please contact our sales team.

Installing additional Hardware

In principle, it is possible to equip your flexible mediaserver FM4 with additional expansion cards. In order to

guarantee continuous reliable operation of your FM4 and to not limit the comprehensive warranty and the

associated product support, changes and/or expansions should always be carried out by XI-MACHINES itself or by

a XI-MACHINES authorized partner.

IMPORTANT! Unauthorized changes to the delivered configuration are made at your own risk and are

excluded from warranty and support. XI-MACHINES assumes no liability for damage caused by unauthorized

expansions and/or changes to the configuration delivered in the first place.
