Determining the Amp/Circuit Requirements
Use the following formula to determine/calculate the amperage/circuit
requirements for all devices associated with the press; this includes the
Print Server, OHCF, and optional finishing devices.
NOTE:
This formula does not calculate the press since it is on its own
dedicated circuit.
1.
Determine the amps required for each device.
2.
Calculate the total amp sum of all the devices.
3.
The sum total is:
•
12 or below; therefore, a 15 amp circuit may be used with NEMA 5-
15R. However, a 20 amp circuit is recommended using NEMA 5-
20R receptacles.
•
12.1 - 16; a 20 amp circuit is required (NEMA 5-20R receptacles).
4.
Calculate the total number of devices associated with press,
including the Print Server, OHCF, and all optional finishing devices.
This calculation is number of receptacles required. Refer to the
following two examples.
Recommended Wall Receptacle Placement
The recommended wall receptacle placement for the print server, OHCF,
the press, and its accessories are shown in the following illustration. This is
for USA receptacles only. It is recommended that receptacles be grouped
as shown in relation to the print engine.
The following illustration shows a full configuration consisting of a
standalone print server, Advanced HCF, the press, Interface Module, GBC
AdvancedPunch, High Capacity Stacker, Booklet Maker Finisher with C/Z
Folder, and SquareFold Trimmer Module.
Electrical Installation Considerations
Press Electrical Considerations
Ground Fault Protection is provided which meets Xerox internal safety
requirements and exceeds the Industry Standards for Information
Technology Equipment.
The electrical outlet must be located within 6 feet (1.83 m) to the right
of the right rear corner of the main processor, or no more than 3 feet
(0.914 m) to the left of the left rear corner of the main processor (when
facing the equipment)
The power cord must have sole use of the circuit. The outlet/circuit
cannot be shared with any other devices or equipment
OHCF should be placed within 6 feet (1.83 meters) of wall outlets.
OHCF have their own power cord and must be plugged into an outlet
separate from the print engine. Ensure that there are enough wall
outlets.
Electrical Considerations for Optional Devices
Electrical requirements and space requirements must be satisfied prior
to equipment delivery.
Optional accessories should be placed within 6 feet (1.83 meters) of wall
outlets.
Most optional devices have their own power cord and must be plugged
into an outlet separate from the print engine. Ensure that there are
enough wall outlets for each required accessory.
