CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
Check the engine oil daily before starting the
engine otherwise shortage of the engine oil may
cause serious damage to the engine such as
seizure.
•
Place the engine on a level surface. Clean
area around the oil gauge before removing it.
•
Remove the oil gauge and wipe it with a clean
cloth.
•
Reinsert the oil gauge to check the oil level.
The level should be
between “ADD” and “FULL”
marks. Do not overfill.
•
Install and tighten the oil gauge
CAUTION
Do not fill above the “FULL” mark. Excess oil
will cause a smoking condition, and may cause
the engine to overheat.

CHECK MOWER BLADES
Service Interval: Before each use or daily
Stop engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and
remove key. Engage parking brakes.
1. Lift deck and secure in raised position as stated
in the
Clean Grass Build-Up Under Deck
section.
2. Inspect blades and sharpen or replace as
required.
3. Reinstall the blades (if they were removed) in
the following order:
A. Install blade bolt through washer, spacers,
and blade in same order as removed to
maintain desired cutting height.
B. Apply lubricant to threads of blade bolt as
needed to prevent seizing. Copper-based
anti-seize is preferable. Grease is an
acceptable substitute. Install blade bolt
finger tight then torque the blade bolts to 50-
60 ft-lb (68-81 N-m).
WARNING
Incorrect installation of the blade or
components used to retain the blade can be
dangerous. Failure to use all original
components and assembled as shown could
allow a blade or blade component to be thrown
out from under the deck resulting in serious
personal injury or death.
Always use original equipment, i.e. blades,
blade bushings, and blade bolts as shown.
