6. Special safety instructions for drills, percussion drills, cordless screwdrivers
and drill hammers.
a. Wear hearing protection when using drills, percussion drills, cordless
screwdrivers and drill hammers. The effect of noise can cause hearing loss.
b. Use the additional handle included in delivery. Loss of control of the machine can
lead to injuries.
c. Hold the appliance on the insulated grip surfaces when performing work in
which the power tool can strike concealed power supply lines. Contact with live
lines can also charge metallic tool parts and lead to an electric shock.
d. Use appropriate detectors to find concealed power lines or call in the local utility
company. Contact with electric power lines could cause a fire and an electric shock.
Damage to a gas line could cause an explosion. Puncturing a water pipeline causes
property damage.
e. If the operating tool is blocked, turn the power tool off immediately. Be alert
to high braking torques that cause a kickback. The operating tool blocks if:
• The power tool is overloaded or
• it tilts in the workpiece to be machined.
f. Hold the power tool very securely. High braking torques can arise for a short period
when screwing screws tight and unscrewing them.
g. Secure the workpiece. A workpiece that is held in place with clamping devices or a
vice is held in place more securely than with your hand.
h. Keep your workplace clean. Material mixtures are particularly dangerous. Dust of
light metal can be inflammable or explode.
i. Wait until the power tool comes to a standstill before putting it down. The
operating tool can get caught up and cause a loss of control over the power tool.
