LP GAS FURNACE (SUBURBAN)
Your furnace is equipped with an automatic
ignition circuit which lights the main burner
when the thermostat demands heat.
The gas furnace is designed to provide safe
and efficient heat throughout the interior of your
motor home through the use of the LP gas and
12-volt electrical systems. The LP fuel is con-
verted to heat at the burner and heats the metal
heat exchanger. A fan switch inside the furnace
turns the blower on automatically when the heat
exchanger reaches a pre-set temperature. The
blower then forces this heat out through the front
of the furnace.
It is normal for the blower to turn on and off
once or twice at the end of an operating cycle to
extract as much heat as possible from the
exchanger.
Refer to your Owner InfoCase for further
information.
START-UP:
1. Open the LP gas tank valve by turning fully
counterclockwise.
2. Move thermostat temperature selector from
OFF position and place to desired tempera-
ture.
3. Furnace fan will start to blow immediately
after setting thermostat.
4. After about 30 seconds, the furnace burner
will light.
5. The furnace will now cycle off and on auto-
matically as the thermostat demands just like
a household furnace.
NOTE: If heat does not come out of the heat
ducts after a minute or so the burner is
not lit. Turn thermostat off for 3-5 min-
utes, check to be sure tank valve is open
and tank is not out of fuel, then try steps
2-4 again. If it still will not light after
three attempts, contact your dealer or a
local RV service center.
To Shut Down:
1. Move thermostat switch to “OFF” position
2. Close LP tank valve.
For Further Information
Please see the Suburban furnace operating in-
structions provided in your Owner InfoCase for
further information, including operating precau-
tions, and periodic maintenance.
NOTE: Metal coatings used during manufacture
of the furnace burner parts may smoke
when the furnace is used for the first
time, which may also set off your smoke
alarm. If this happens, provide adequate
ventilation of the smoke to avoid a nui-
sance smoke alarm at this time. We do
not recommend removing the smoke
Leave by-pass valve handle in NOR-
MAL FLOW position if draining
water and blowing out water lines.
Place in BYPASS position ONLY
when using antifreeze solution in
water lines.
